As part of our #MIAproject series, we caught up with Monique Gonzales also known as MoMo. Monique has performed regularly in South Florida from Bongos at the American Airlines Arena, The Cardoso Hotel, performing live for the American Cancer Society, and Make a Wish Foundation, to name a few. Monique’s mission is clear, she plans to leave her mark in the world as a music icon. Her work ethic and passion show and we’re excited to see Monique grow to become a bigger music icon than she already is. Her Name Is Monique.
What are your thoughts on Miami’s music scene?
I think Miami has so much talent! There’s a few hidden diamonds here. As a native growing up in Miami, the melting pot of cultures has played an enormous part in my influence and musical style. I love my city!
Who are some of your inspirations?
My Queens are my inspiration. Selena, Gloria Estefan, and Beyoncé.
What are some of your plans for 2016?
I am so excited for 2016, starting off the year I am releasing two singles, one of them is called ‘Fuego,’ stay tuned! Being that I’m Cuban-American, I had to give each market something to jam to!
If you could perform with anyone, dead or alive, who would it be and why?
Michael Jackson, of course! He embodied the essence of a true performer. I would of loved to his his energy on stage.
Where do you see yourself in five years?
In five years, I see myself as an established, influential music icon. Spreading light through all of my platforms.
If you could describe Miami in a few words, what would that be?
Miami is just like its weather, HOTTT!!!
